A Slow Week?

Nick said it was an uneventful week and that there were a lot of cancellations, but they taught 20 discussions! Each of the other two companionships in the district taught nine each, so Nick and Elder Nelson taught more than the other two combined. Of course, it's not a competition, but Nick thought it was pretty cool!

The update on last weeks investigators are: The Van Bussems are progressing, but it will take them a long time to decide. A little progress with Robert. And it's going really well with Skyler. He wants to clean up and be baptized. The problem is he has a $600 fine to pay (apparently in conjunction with his jail time), and can't be baptized until he pays it. His dad would help him except that he hates Mormons, so he won't pay it knowing that would enable him to get baptized. So it may be awhile until Skyler can take care of it. There are typically 3-5 standard lessons, but Nick mostly makes his up. There isn't a set total number, they continue teaching until an investigator is either baptized, or asks them to stop coming.

Some of the service Nick has done includes pushing elderly handicapped people around the fair in wheelchairs, and mostly yardwork: laying down pavers to make a walkway, digging a trench, weeding. Hmm...he didn't seem to know how to do those things when he was at home.

They played volleyball on P-day, and on Saturday played football at the park with some of the investigators. No one wants lessons on Saturdays, so they play football with them to help with contacts (and have some fun). It's gotta be way more fun than tracting. No wonder he likes it there! Also on Saturdays, he makes progress records, correlates with ward mission leaders, and goes to appointments whenever they can get them.
