One Birthday and Christmas Down, One to Go!

The second week they doubled their lessons in Buhl to 18! They met with one lady who has been taking the lessons for a year and wants to be baptized but can't quit smoking. So Nick got really bold and helped her set a quit smoking date, with a baptismal date two weeks later.

They now have eight baptisms set up in the next few weeks. Nick says that if Buhl WAS a dead area, it is picking up now. Normally, a goal there is one baptism per companionship per each six week transfer period. They have eight this transfer!!!

Usually Thursday and Fridays are busy teaching days, but since Christmas Eve and Day fell then, things were really slow during the holidays. And a lot of people were out of town. So they hung out with different families, opened presents, and relaxed...a lot more than usual. The family he had Christmas Eve dinner with gave him Ninja Turtle Pajamas. He was very excited about those. Nick's 20th birthday was last week too, so he had lots of presents to open. Things were so slow that one of their service opportunities last week was something new--picking up a ham from an investigator named Kim, and delivering it to another investigator also named Kim. He thought that was funny.

Of course, the MOST exciting thing is that on Christmas Day, Nick got to call home. We talked for a long time--till we practically ran out of things to say. It was great to talk to him, and we caught up on everything. He said Christmas was fun, he hung out with a few families and mostly played Wii and some basketball.

He works hard to stay in shape. He's doing something called air alert that is very intense. He's heard the average weight gain in the Boise mission is 35 pounds, but so far he has lost five pounds!
